Dr. Pieter R. Cullis, world leader in lipid nanoparticles and founder of Acuitas Therapeutics, which developed the lipid nanoparticles used in the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, has been confirmed as a Plenary Speaker for the CRS 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting.
Dr. Cullis and his colleagues are responsible for the development of nanomedicines employing lipid nanoparticle delivery technology leading to five (5) clinically approved drugs for cancer therapies, gene therapies, and vaccines. Two recent examples are Onpattro, the first approved RNAi drug used to treat the hereditary condition transthyretin-induced amyloidosis and BNT162b2, the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine marketed by Pfizer/BioNTech.
Dr. Cullis has co-founded ten (10) biotechnology companies that now employ over 300 people. He has published over 350 scientific articles and is an inventor on over 60 patents. He is also the recipient of the Founder’s Award this year.
