Welcome
On behalf of the Programming Committee and the Board of Directors of the CRS, I am truly delighted to invite you to join us for the 48th Annual Meeting of the Controlled Release Society that will be held virtually from July 25 – 29, 2021. This year, the conference has the theme “Breakthrough Delivery Science”, which reflects our focus on research, development and innovation that keeps you up-to-date, offers new ideas, and provides inspiration for new scientific directions and collaborations.
The Virtual Meeting is a highly convenient way to view all of our exciting programming from the comfort of your own home or office, with no travel or travel-related expenses. Building off our very successfully Virtual Annual Meeting in 2020, we will again offer round-the-clock conference activities to engage our global community, including plenary talks by world leaders, technical sessions with oral presentations, virtual posters and on-demand talks to keep you focused on the latest research advances. We will also have dedicated times to attend Workshops, Tech Forums and a virtual 3D exhibition hall to connect you with leading companies and their products.
A major focus on the conference will be on facilitating direct and live engagement among conference participants. The technical sessions will feature live questions-and-answer sessions as well as live extended discussion periods at the end of each session, in addition to online chatting throughout. We will again organize Meetups to bring together researchers with common interests, and offer virtual Networking Sessions, where conference participants can meet with old friends and make new connections using an exciting new interface.
The conference will provide additional activities for special interest groups, such as the Focus Groups, Young Scientists, Consumer and Diversified Products, and more, taking place before, during and after the main conference. We will also feature a series of post-conference workshops, each spanning one or two half-days for focused engagement with experts on specific hot topics in the field.
